A beautiful 19th-century French Silver mesh purse, embellished with embossed mistletoe leaves across a decorative hinged frame. The fine chain-mail mesh cascades in soft, fluid drape and finishes with a delicate fringe of tiny bead drops, creating a tactile shimmer with every movement. Inside, an internal divider adds a thoughtful touch of practicality to this charming miniature accessory.

The ornate frame is chased with flowing foliate scrolls and berry accents, crowned by a classic twin-ball kiss clasp for a refined, period-perfect finish. Stamped with two French crab marks for Silver near the clasp, this is a wonderfully evocative piece that captures the romance and craftsmanship of the late 19th century.

HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.

Condition

EXCELLENT: The chased frame, hinge and kiss-clasp are crisp and secure with light surface wear and a gentle patina. The mesh is intact and supple with only minor marks to a few bead drops, consistent with age; no obvious repairs noted.
