Antique 9ct Gold Ruby Pearl Horseshoe Ring, Inscribed 'Mizpah'

Sold

This early Edwardian ring carries deep symbolic meaning, with three horseshoes on the front and 'Mizpah' inscribed on the inside. Mizpah is a Hebrew word which means 'watchtower' and rose to popularity during the Victorian era, with pieces being gifted as tokens of love and remembrance.

The front of the ring has three lucky horseshoes on it, each set with either a Ruby or a Pearl. A lot of thought has gone into creating this antique ring, and we adore the sentiment behind it!

Condition

GOOD. The ring has been beautifully detailed with three horseshoes and set with both Rubies and Pearls. The Pearl furthest to the right has split, so there is only half of it left, but when you wear it, this isn't obvious as it is situated where the fingers meet. There is a resize mark on the back of the band, but this is only visible from the inside of the band. With a full set of hallmarks, including the rare Chester Assay stamp, we can accurately date this treatre to 1902!
